charcoal sweets
Formed the “Charcoal Sweets Team”.
Based on the concept of ``touching hemp and getting to know it deeply,'' this group aims to spread the word and let as many people as possible know about how to use hemp.
We started in earnest around June 2023 with the aim of opening a stall at the Jiyugaoka Goddess Festival, which is held in the fall in Jiyugaoka, as a major stage for this activity.

Jiyugaoka Goddess Festival
“Touch hemp and get to know it deeply”
For two days, October 8th (Sunday) and October 9th (Monday/holiday), 2023, we held a hemp workshop and sold hemp charcoal lemonade at Jiyugaoka's largest event, the Jiyugaoka Goddess Festival. .
In the hemp workshop, we held a hemp charcoal incense making event on the first day, and a hemp ornament making activity on the second day. Through communication with the participants, we were able to share a valuable time facing hemp once again. Ta.
In addition, by selling hemp charcoal lemonade, hemp charcoal lemonade sour, and products made at Yashu Asashi Kobo, we were able to get people to know more about hemp from various angles. That's what I'm thinking.
Furthermore, in this project, cat-shaped cookies and pumpkin cookies made by Jiyugaoka Roll Shop and using Yashu Asami Kobo's ``hemp charcoal powder'' were presented as novelty items to the participants of the trial class.
Hand-drawn poster displayed at the workshop booth on the day
The plant "hemp " is actually a familiar plant to us Japanese people, and we created this poster with the hope that people would be interested in it from a familiar place.

┃Thoughts on the project
Ikumi I am very happy that this project was a success. I am honored to have been able to go from not knowing anything about charcoal sweets and hemp until I started the project, to expanding my knowledge of charcoal sweets and hemp. However, it was difficult to reach the goal, the Goddess Festival. As I was looking for a job in parallel, I was facing my own future, and I was also having fun while developing the project, discussing with the people who were collaborating with me on the project, and deciding which one to prioritize. There were many times when I was worried. However, thanks to the cooperation of the two members, the supportive members of the neighborhood association, and the students taking the class, I was able to persevere without giving up until the end. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Yashu Asami Kobo and Jiyugaoka Roll Shop for their kind cooperation in our project. It was thanks to them that I was able to see the finished cookies and the smiles on the faces of the people enjoying the workshop. We hope that this project will help as many people as possible learn about hemp.
Mai Through the project at the Goddess Festival, I felt it would be great if I could change people's perception of hemp even just a little. Before the project began, I didn't know that hemp was used in various ways and that it was a familiar fiber in our daily lives as Japanese people. However, after meeting Mr. Omori, I learned that there are many things made from hemp that are used in traditional Japanese events and Shinto rituals. Also, although cannabis tends to be used as a medicine, hemp charcoal, which is made from hemp husks, has positive effects on our health and beauty. It has a unique feature. Although hemp has been used as a sacred fiber in Japan since ancient times and has a deep connection to the Japanese people, its medicinal aspect has become entrenched in its image. In this project, we hope that people will learn about the original uses of hemp and become familiar with it by actually touching it, so we will hold a hands-on class where you can actually touch hemp and sell hemp charcoal lemonade. , we have cooperated with them so that they can learn about various aspects of hemp from different angles, such as selling hemp products made using various processing methods. On top of that, we posted POPs to help people learn more about how hemp can be used, and we valued communication with visitors. I also strongly felt that this project was made possible with the cooperation and warmth of many people, including Yashu Asami Kobo, the people of the Jiyugaoka area, and the Jiyugaoka roll shop. Therefore, I once again realized the importance of working hard without forgetting to be grateful to the people around me. I also learned the fun of "knowing" and the difficulty of connecting that knowledge to others. From now on, I would like to share and disseminate what I have learned and new discoveries with as many people as possible.
Rana After finishing the Goddess Festival, I realized how important it is to touch hemp, and that I want to continue learning more about hemp in the future, and I want to spread that knowledge to those around me. Until I started working on this project, I had no idea that hemp was so common around us and that it was used in so many different ways. I was able to learn about hemp charcoal from a sudden idea of ``charcoal x sweets,'' and was able to meet Mr. Omori. The more I listened to Mr. Omori's story, the more I wanted to explore hemp further. We thought a lot about how we could convey what we learned there to the people who came to the Goddess Festival. We posted POP information about hemp, and distributed flyers to those who participated in the trial class to learn about Yashu Asami Kobo. There were many things that needed to be done in this project to convey the thoughts and aims of the three of us to those around us and to make the project itself a success, and although there were times when I felt it was very difficult, I was always excited and enjoyed working on it. I was able to. I will utilize this valuable experience for my future endeavors. We were able to welcome the Goddess Festival by coordinating with companies and related parties and making preparations. I feel that I was able to achieve this with the support of various people. Because we were able to realize this and were successful, we do not want to end our connection here, but rather continue to connect to the next one. And thank you to everyone who came to the Goddess Festival. I would be very happy if this project became one of the opportunities for people to come into contact with hemp more.
